The PTA encourages qualified candidates to apply for the position of principal of The 30th Avenue School (Q300), a K-8 public school located in two campuses in Astoria, Queens. The deadline for application submission is Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at 3:00 pm EST. Are you looking for a low-stress, low-demand way to get involved with the Q300 community?; Do you enjoy arranging group outings?; Do you have ideas for activities in your neighborhood that you’d like to share with other Q300 families?; Would you like to make new families feel welcome?

Neighborhood Liaisons are a valuable link between neighborhoods and the larger Q300 community. They share information with Q300 neighbors about local events, suggest outings and provide opporutnities for community gatherings.
Liaisons are asked to plan a minimum of one neighborhood gathering in a school year. Neighborhood Liaisons are a helpful resource for new and current Q300 families!

Looking for Class Parents for 2019-2020

Istock 511466988Q300 is looking for class parents for 2019-2020. Class parents play an important role in the Q300 community, supporting the students and teachers in many ways. Class Parents can do many of their duties remotely and can serve jointly with another parent. First 2019-2020 PTA meeting on Thur, Sept 19

Our first PTA General Membership Meeting will be held on Thursday, September 19th at 6:00 pm at the PS 17 campus. Although this is a parent-focused event, children are welcome. If you bring your children, you may want to bring a quiet activity to keep them occupied during the meeting. There will be some child care support during the meeting. We look forward to seeing you there.

Q300 PTA PTA Board SLT Elections Notice 2019
Notice of General Membership Meeting, PTA Board and SLT Expedited Elections, and Call for Candidates

The PTA will hold its General Membership Meeting on Thursday, May 30, 2019 at 6:30pm in the upper division campus auditorium at 31-51 21st Street, Long Island City, NY 11106. The agenda will include the election of all Board positions of the PTA and of one (1) parent position of the School Leadership Team (“SLT”).

Call For PTA Board And SLT Parent Member Candidates
A. The PTA calls for candidates to fill positions on the PTA Board
B. The SLT calls for candidates to fill 1 parent member SLT positions

If you are interested in running for any Board positions or for the SLT parent member positions, please contact the Nominations Committee at nominations@q300pla.org, by May 10, 2019. Please note that nominations will also be taken from the floor during the meeting.

Volunteers for the Elections Committee 2019-2020

NominationLogoWe are looking for volunteers to serve on the Elections Committee to help identify next year’s parent leadership at Q300 and administer the election of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) board members and School Leadership Team (SLT) parent member. The election will be held at the PTA general membership meeting on Thursday, May 30, 2019 at the upper division campus.

The Committee’s responsibilities include canvassing the community for eligible candidates, preparing materials related to the election (including bios, notices, and ballots) and running the election. We need 3 to 5 Committee members. Committee members must be a parent. Please note that a person who is running for office or is employed at Q300 are not eligible to serve on the Nominations Committee.

New York City School Survey 2019

Please fill out the school survey! You can do so online by looking up your survey code with your child’s name, birthday and school. This is an important opportunity to share your thoughts on the school. It’s an opportunity to share our glows and grows of the school.

Our goal of Q300 is to achieve a 100% parent participation rate. The more surveys completed, the more data we will have to continue improving our school. If you need assistance, please contact Jenny Lando, parent coordinator, for more information or assistance.

The survey is due on Wednesday, April 3, 2019.
