Dear Members of our Q300 Family and Friends,
Welcome to the 2016-2017 school year!
Again this year at the 30th Avenue School, the Q300 PTA is implementing a direct appeal campaign. Instead of taking time away from academics by asking students to sell things we are asking each family for a tax-deductible, monetary donation to the Q300 PTA.
What is Direct Appeal?
Direct Appeal is a program where each family is asked to make a tax-deductible, charitable donation to the Q300 PTA to support educational programs, teaching assistants, social activities and other programs that enhance your students’ experience. Direct Appeal eliminates the need for fundraisers that take time away from academics by asking students to sell things. The Q300 PTA Direct Appeal accounted for 70% of the monies raised during the 2015-2016 school year.
How are Direct Appeal Donations Used?
The ongoing efforts that tax-deductible, charitable donations made by our Q300 families fund include these recently funded programs at the 30th Avenue school. Additional detail can be found in the 2016-2017 Direct Appeal FAQs.

How Can You Help?
In each of the last two years, 78% of Q300 families participated in the Direct Appeal fundraising effort. The PTAs goal for this school year is to increase the number of families participating in the Direct Appeal campaign. This year, to support the services, programs and staff listed above, the Q300 PTA asks each family for a suggested, tax deductible contribution, of $1,500 per student in grades K-3 and $1,000 per student in grades 5-8 to ensure ongoing support of programs such as those listed above. Every gift, regardless of size, enables the PTA to keep these valuable programs available.
Can Family or Friends Help?
Family and friends who may be interested in making a tax-deductible charitable donation can also participate by sending donations along with completed donation forms. Donation forms can be mailed or sent to school with your student. Contributions can be made in a lump sum or in smaller installments throughout the year.
Employers Can Help Too!
You might be able to make your donation to the Q300 PTA go farther. Many companies encourage employees to donate to their favorite charities by matching their contributions, sometimes dollar-for-dollar or more. To see if your employer participates please contact your human resources or matching gifts department to see if you can establish a matching gifts program with the Q300 PTA.
Here’s How to Donate to the Q300 PTA
Your donation is especially important because we are still a new school. Any contribution amount is appreciated and will be put to immediate use. Because the Direct Appeal campaign has minimal overhead, nearly 100% of your donation go to funding special programs, services and additional staff at school. Charitable donations to the Q300 PTA are accepted throughout the school year.
Donating to the Q300 PTA throughout the year
On the Contribution form, indicate that you want to make monthly recurring donations. The Q300 PTA can accept installment payments by credit card or via automatic payments from your checking account (similar to a recurring bill payment). Checking account is preferred to reduce fees to Q300 PTA
Recurring Donations Add Up!
Donating $150 per month during the school year (less than you might spend on lunch during the week) allows the Q300 PTA to continue funding the staff, programs and events that help make Q300 a great place for our children to learn.
